1984 was the year in which I founded Coastal. The period during the 1980s and 1990s was a time of extraordinary change, with economies across the globe opening up to each other while China's own economic policies made significant steps towards liberalization. We were one of the few who caught the wave and entered the Chinese mainland market: first in electronics and information technology, and then in property development. In the midst of rapid economic growth and urban development, our goal was simple: to identify what the market was missing so that we could create value for our customers while realizing sustainable returns for our shareholders. With a courageous and entrepreneurial spirit, Coastal became a frontrunner in the property development industry as the first to experiment with high-tech approaches to developing healthy and green housing across many cities in the Greater China region. 

Today, more than ever before, is a time of great challenges and opportunities as China continues its shift toward a consumer-led market, propelling an unprecedented expansion in the innovative-driven new economy sector. The Chinese consumer is now the defining economic force in the new millennium. We aim to catch the wave once again and tailor our investment and operating strategy to position Coastal for long-term success. Drawing on a strong company culture gradually built over thirty years, I firmly believe that the hard work and dedication of every Coastalite, alongside our recognition for the importance of corporate social responsibility, would be reflected in the value we deliver to our customers, stakeholders and the community at large.
